PCRC, Rights Group Forge Alliance on Human Rights, Drug Awareness

-

The National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, has held a strategic meeting with Comrade Bibi Oduku, Chairman of Guard Time Information, Human Rights Activists Nationwide, to strengthen collaboration on human rights promotion and community development.

The meeting, which took place in Abuja, focused on building partnerships that will enhance public safety, deepen police-community relations, and expand advocacy programmes across the country.

Olaniyan commended the contributions of Guard Time Information to protecting citizens’ rights and promoting societal well-being. He noted that the partnership would drive public enlightenment and support initiatives aimed at fostering trust between the Nigeria Police Force and the public.

“This collaboration will foster greater public enlightenment and progressive programmes that will strengthen the relationship between the police and the public,” he said.

He outlined key areas of focus for the partnership, including the promotion of non-violence and peace-building initiatives, educational programmes for police officers and their families, and awareness campaigns targeting drug abuse, crime prevention, and other social vices.

In his remarks, Oduku expressed optimism that the collaboration would boost peace, security, and effective community service nationwide.

“This partnership will enhance peace, security, and effective community service across Nigeria,” he said, reaffirming his organisation’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force in its role as the country’s primary internal security agency.

Oduku further highlighted ongoing nationwide campaigns by his organisation, particularly in higher institutions, addressing substance abuse, crime prevention, and the promotion and protection of citizens’ rights.

He stressed the growing challenges posed by drug abuse and its wider impact on society, noting the need for sustained awareness and intervention programmes.

“This partnership marks a significant step toward building a safer, more informed, and rights-conscious society,” he added.

Both parties expressed confidence that the collaboration would strengthen human rights advocacy, promote peace-building, and improve public safety outcomes across Nigeria.
