The Oyo State Police Command has successfully disrupted a major drug distribution network following a targeted raid on a criminal hideout in the Olomi area of Ibadan.
Acting on credible intelligence provided by a strategic partner, detectives descended on an apartment located along Abanise Street, Academy area, which was reportedly being used as a warehouse for narcotics.
During a thorough search of the premises and its immediate surroundings, officers recovered a significant haul of illegal substances. The seized exhibits included nine bags of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp and 101 wraps of “Canadian Loud,” a high-potency strain of cannabis, alongside various other assorted hard drugs.
The suspected dealer, identified as Oluwadamilare Adedayo, was not present at the time of the operation. However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, psc (+), has ordered an intensive manhunt and coordinated surveillance to ensure the suspect is brought to justice.
The Command emphasised that this operation is part of a proactive policing framework designed to stem the circulation of illicit drugs, which serve as known catalysts for violent crimes and other forms of criminality within the state.
CP Haruna expressed appreciation for the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, for his operational direction and unwavering support. He also commended the synergy between the Nigeria Police Force, sister security agencies, and community stakeholders whose cooperation was instrumental to the success of the raid.
The Oyo State Police Command reassures residents of its commitment to sustaining the fight against crime and urges the public to continue providing timely information.
