The Ogun State Police Command has arrested seven suspects across Sango-Ota, Owode-Egba, and Agbado in a series of coordinated operations targeting armed robbery, house breaking, and other criminal activities, the Command announced Friday.
Operatives from the three divisions acted on community tip-offs and intelligence reports, recovering a locally fabricated pistol, an expended cartridge, and various stolen items, including electrical appliances, cash, and personal valuables.
Three suspects, Pelumi Akintande, 21, Mojeed Sanusi, 28, and Mubarak Lateef, 17, were arrested following an armed robbery in Alasia Community, where a resident was attacked and robbed of valuables. A cut-to-size pistol and one expended cartridge were recovered. Police say they are still pursuing other members of the gang believed to have fled the scene.
Damilare Makanjuola, 22, was apprehended after allegedly scaling a fence to break into a shop in Ofada. Investigators subsequently linked him to a string of burglaries within Sun City Estate, where electrical items, cash exceeding ₦100,000, and personal valuables were stolen. Recovered items have been secured as evidence.
In a separate Owode-Egba incident, Tijani Jubril, 28, and Ezra Modi, 22, were intercepted while allegedly attempting to dispose of stolen electrical appliances hidden in a sack. The items, believed to have been removed from a residence within Treasure Island Estate, Awo Village, were recovered intact. Investigators say there is evidence of forced entry into the property.
Waris Adebesin, 22, was arrested near a secondary school in the Agbado area after allegedly brandishing a knife and causing panic among students and staff. Police say their intervention prevented the situation from escalating. The knife was recovered at the scene.
All seven suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised officers for their “professionalism and swift response” and thanked residents whose tip-offs he said were critical to the arrests. He vowed that justice would be “pursued diligently and without compromise” for victims of the incidents.
Residents are urged to report suspicious activity by contacting the Command through the Gateway Shield toll-free line. #Securitynewsalert.com
