The Office of the National Security Adviser and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, have launched the State-Level Coordination Meeting on the Protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAPI).
The launch was held on Monday, 22 September 2025, at the IHS office, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Lagos.
SC Oluwaseun Abolurin, Lagos Civil Defence PRO, stated Monday that the launch is a part of the implementation framework of the 2024 CNAI National Protection Policy and Strategy ( NPPS ) as duly asserted by the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him,” while delivering his keynote address, the State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Keshinro Adedotun, affirmed that the State-Level Coordination Summit is convened at the directive of ONSA, which has tasked the Corps to join forces in safeguarding those assets that underpin the safety, stability and economic well-being of our nation.
He further said that Lagos hosts some of the most critical assets, our seaports and airports, energy facilities, telecommunications hubs, financial institutions and major transport corridors and as such makes the state both a strength to the nation and a prime target of hostile actors .
However, the Chief Corporate Services Officer of IHS, Dapo Otunla, in a welcome address, commended all the stakeholders that participated in the event and charged them to see the round table meeting as an opportunity to propose solutions needed to ensure the protection of our collective critical national assets and infrastructure across the country.
The Lagos NSCDC image maker said that the event drew goodwill messages from the Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Communications Commission, ICPC and E,FCC, amongst others
His words “The representatives and stakeholders of various agencies, speakers at the event today commend the NSCDC, Lagos State Command, for putting the event together and deepening robust engagements tailored towards enhancing collaboration and collective approach of tackling the untoward vandalism of assets and infrastructure in the country by unscrupulous elements ”
State-Level Coordination Meeting also welcomes interventions, contributions and suggestions from the participating distinguished stakeholders who attend the event.
The participants agree that a more robust framework be put in place to allow for the participation of more stakeholders in the implementation framework of CNAI-NPPS in the country, amongst others.
The Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC also affirmed that other level meetings will also come up with Traditional Institutions, Religious Organisations, and other relevant stakeholders in the state and contributions received from all these engagements will form the context of the communique that will be submitted.
